Listening

When talking about listening resources to improve English, TED is my favorite website which has accompanied me since I decided to be serious with my learning English. Popular figures appear on stage and share their great experience: their failures, thoughts and the way they get success. TED videos motivated me so much that my daily goal is watching at least one TED video. I wish that I could be at the auditorium to discuss with them more questions about their stories.

Courses in DePauw this semester make my wish become true by speaker series. I have plenty of opportunities to directly communicate with authors and speakers who are famous for their major, willing to share their works and solutions to problems that we - students - easily encounter during our process of studying. They talked about cases, difficulties and life ideals that I - an 18 years-old student - never faced. Thanks to participating auditorium, I am aware of many conception of society and humanity, and inspired by their thinking. I transform from a passive listener to a proactive listener when being able to ask questions.

They are all writers of famous novels. I receive useful advice about writing problems: looking at green trees in few minutes before continuing working on my paper. It initially sounds unbelievable but actually unexpectedly effective.
